The City of St. Robert is proud to recognize the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of America's Purple Heart recipients by proclaiming August as Purple Heart Month and August 7 as Purple Heart Day in the City of St. Robert.

The Purple Heart is one of our nation's oldest and most revered military decorations, awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces who have been wounded or killed in action while serving our country. It is a symbol of extraordinary sacrifice, unwavering courage, and selfless service in defense of the freedoms we enjoy every day.

As a proud military community neighboring Fort Leonard Wood, St. Robert is home to countless veterans, active-duty service members, military families, and Purple Heart recipients. Their sacrifices, along with those of generations before them, have helped preserve the liberties and opportunities that define our nation.

Mayor James W. Breckinridge signed the official proclamation in recognition of these brave men and women and encourages all residents to take a moment throughout the month of August, and especially on Purple Heart Day, to remember those who have borne the physical and emotional wounds of war in service to our country.

"The Purple Heart is more than a medal. It is a lasting reminder of the tremendous sacrifices made by those who answered our nation's call, often at great personal cost," said Mayor Breckinridge. "As a community deeply connected to our military, it is our privilege to honor these heroes and ensure their service is never forgotten."
